Committed to Care- Now and the Future
With the unique needs of each woman in mind, the Women's Clinic provides comprehensive women's healthcare to female students, spouses of students, faculty and staff. Patients are provided care utilizing best practices guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the Centers for Disease Control and the United States Preventative Services Task Force. Our clinic has served as a clinical training site for UAMS Medical Students and Advanced Nurse Practitioner students.
Women’s health care involves much more than breast exams, pelvic exams and pap smears. Our professionals evaluate health status and provide guidance on cancer and disease prevention for current and future patient health. Please read our brochure, Women: Stay Healthy at Any Age, on our Publications site for information on health screenings, preventative medicines and taking steps to good health.
Patients are encouraged to develop a Reproductive Life Plan to set personal goals regarding parenthood and take appropriate steps to ensure pregnancy timing for optimal mother and baby outcome. Numerous studies show unplanned pregnancy often leads to poorer maternal and child health, lower quality of mother-infant bonding, higher risk of abuse/neglect/family violence and higher risk of life in poverty and dependence on public assistance, among other consequences. The U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Preconception and Health Care My Reproductive Health Plan is an outstanding tool for women that provides thoughtful questions to assist women in thinking about pregnancy and parenthood.
