Letter from the Chancellor: April 12, 2021
Dear U of A Faculty and Students:
Though things are evolving quickly, I wanted to let you know that the Arkansas Department of Health and CDC continue to recommend mask wearing. As such, we are not making changes to our policies regarding mask use and physical distancing on campus. At this point, we think it’s still in the best interests of our campus and larger community to wear masks and to keep being tested. Like everything else, we’ll monitor the conditions at the end of the semester and make adjustments as appropriate.
I also want to let you know that the Pat Walker Health Center is taking vaccination appointments. All employees and students who are 18 years of age or over and have not already received a first dose of another vaccine are eligible for the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. Only a limited number of slots are available each day. The good news is you only need one of these shots. I encourage you to take advantage as soon as possible. That said, if the PWHC is not the most convenient option for you, then I encourage you to pursue vaccination elsewhere. The surest way to end this pandemic is to get as many people as possible vaccinated.
So let’s keep staying the course and laying the groundwork for our planned face-to-face fall semester.
Sincerely,
Joe Steinmetz, Ph.D.
Chancellor
