Medical Clinic Appointments

University of Arkansas enrolled students and active employees are eligible to schedule medical services at Pat Walker Health Center. Students must provide their current UARK ID when checking in for an appointment and can schedule online via the Patient Portal, by calling 479-575-4451, or by walk-in for limited same-day appointments for acute care (i.e. cough, cold, or allergy symptoms) or urgent care (i.e. injury) needs. 

Students who have graduated or a have a gap in enrollment should contact the PWHC to determine their eligibility. Retired staff and emeritus faculty are only eligible for immunization visits and must schedule by calling 479-575-4451. Furthermore affiliates, UA Sponsored Camp participants, and campus visitors are eligible for services and should contact the PWHC for further details.

Appointments for all medical clinics — Primary Care Clinic, GYN (Women's) Clinic, and Allergy, Immunizations & Travel Clinic — can be scheduled through the online Patient Portal or by calling 479-575-4451.

  • Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your schedule appointment time. Patients arriving late will be requested to reschedule.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so at least one-hour prior by calling 479-575-4451 or online via the Patient Portal. 

  • If you have any type of medicaid insurance, please have your primary care physician send a referral to the Pat Walker Health Center on your behalf prior to your appointment. This will allow the billing process with insurance to run more smoothly. 

  • Chaperones are available to all patients, and signs are posted in all exam rooms to let patients know they can request one at any time during their visit. 

The health center at times offers limited same-day appointments for acute medical concerns. It is strongly encouraged to call ahead before walking in. 

If you are unsure if you need to be seen or need medical advice, students and employees can speak with our Nurse Triage Team by calling the health center.

The health center is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment for patients and staff. We recognize patients can find some consultations, examinations, or procedures distressing, and may prefer to have a chaperone present for support. 

 

TeleVisit Medical Appointments

The health center offers TeleVisit medical appointments in an effort to expand health care access for University of Arkansas students, faculty and staff.

U of A students, faculty and staff who are in Arkansas can be seen via a TeleVisit with one of our medical providers, in addition to in-person appointments; (you must be an established patient to schedule a TeleVisit). To learn more about the types of visits our clinics offer via a TeleVisit or to schedule your TeleVisit, go to the Patient Portal or call 479-575-4451.

  • Using HIPAA-compliant video conferencing, TeleVisits let you access health care services while in the comfort of your own residence hall, off-campus residence or other private location.  Established patients of the Pat Walker Health Center are eligible for visits, but you must be in the state of Arkansas at the time of your TeleVisit to be eligible.
  • To schedule a TeleVisit appointment at the Primary Care Clinic, you can schedule via the Patient Portal or by calling 479-575-4451, option 1. To schedule a TeleVisit appointment at the GYN (Women's) Clinic, you can schedule an appointment via the Patient Portal or by calling 479-575-4478.

COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments

All University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus, employees and students can schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments on-campus. Although not required, the university strongly recommends getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

Pat Walker Health Center offers the Pfizer updated COVID-19 vaccine. Updated COVID-19 vaccines. are recommended for everyone six months and older, and you must be two months post receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

The cost for the COVID-19 vaccine is $115, along with a $30 administration fee, which most insurances cover a percentage of. Check with your insurance provider about coverage for the COVID-19 vaccine, as the vaccine will no longer be covered by the government.

Patient Web Portal

Our patient web portal is designed to help you interact more conveniently and efficiently with our medical clinics.

With the Patient Portal you can:

  • Send prescription refill requests directly to your provider's nurse rather than your pharmacy

  • Schedule appointments online 24/7 

  • Update your health profile (address, phone number, etc.) information

  • Receive test results/medical records and exchange secure messages with the health center staff 

  • Complete required paperwork prior to your appointment

  • Check your health center financial account summary and pay balances due (student patient balances are transferred to the Treasurer's office and can be paid via UAConnect)

Note: Some health concerns cannot be made via the Patient Portal. If you’re unable to schedule an appointment, call 479-575-4451. Only Medical Services can be scheduled via the Patient Portal.

Students must bring current UARK ID when coming in for an appointment. 

Mental Health Appointments

University of Arkansas students who are interested in getting started with CAPS can walk in during business hours (Monday-Thursday 8AM-5PM or Friday 9AM-5PM) or call 479-575-5276 to discuss options. CAPS also offers 24-hour emergency mental health services for students, faculty and staff by calling 479-575-5276.

  • Intake consultations are required before starting individual counseling, select group therapy and/or psychiatric services.

SEAR Appointments

The Substance Education, Assessment and Recovery (SEAR) Program provides direct individual and group interventions to university students with alcohol, cannabis, and other substance related concerns.

  • If you are struggling with alcohol or drug use, SEAR can help. To make a SEAR appointment, email sear@uark.edu.

Missed Appointments & Late Cancellations

Charges apply for missed appointments or appointments not canceled at least two (2) hours in advance for the medical clinics/SEAR appointments and by 4:00 p.m. the workday before the appointment for counseling/psychiatry services.

If you are more than 15 minutes late to a SEAR appointment, then you will be charged the $20 late fee. 

All charges will be put on your University of Arkansas UAConnect account.
